Carin Nielsen, MDCarin Nielsen, MD, ABIHM, IFMCP, has over fifteen years of experience treating thousands of patients in Northern Michigan with her personalized approach to health and wellness. She specializes in Integrative and Functional Medicine and medical weight management. Dr. Nielsen received a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Montana, working in Biochemistry before receiving her medical degree in 2001 from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She completed her residency in Grand Rapids, MI and obtained her original Board Certification in Family Medicine before moving to Northern Michigan. After nearly five years of practicing family medicine/primary care in Harbor Springs, Michigan, Dr. Nielsen made the decision to pursue a career in Integrative and Functional Medicine. She is certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine and the Instituter for Functional Medicine, and has completed additional training through the American Board of Bariatric Medicine and the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine under the direction of Andrew Weil, MD. Dr. Nielsen lives in Petoskey, Michigan with her husband and twin sons.





Katherine (Katie) Winslow LAc, RAc, Dipl.OM, is a state and nationally licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist. She finds that a holistic approach to health and wellness- utilizing the strengths of both eastern and western medicine- is the most powerful means of bringing her patients out of pain and suffering and into a better state of health. She has a B.S. from the University of Arizona and an M.S. in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA. Katie has developed her skills in many clinical settings including the state-of-the-art Disney Family Cancer Center in Burbank, CA and the Venice Family Clinic’s award-winning program for the management of chronic pain. Being certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Biomedicine, and Foundations of Oriental Medicine, Katie has earned the designation of Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. She practiced in CA and Mexico before moving to Michigan in 2014 with her husband and young son.




Katie Winnell RN, BSN, NC, Working as a nurse in Northern Michigan for the past 20 years, Katie has transitioned her skills from acute care nursing to wellness management and health education. Providing health education, health coaching, workshops, and clinical meditation instruction, her goal is to help clients understand and manage chronic illness risk factors and access their own unique lifestyle of wellness.
