Carin Nielsen, MD, ABIHM, IFMCP, has over fifteen years of experience treating thousands of patients in Northern Michigan with her personalized approach to health and wellness. She specializes in Integrative and Functional Medicine and medical weight management. Dr. Nielsen received a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Montana, working in Biochemistry before receiving her medical degree in 2001 from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She completed her residency in Grand Rapids, MI and obtained her original Board Certification in Family Medicine before moving to Northern Michigan. After nearly five years of practicing family medicine/primary care in Harbor Springs, Michigan, Dr. Nielsen made the decision to pursue a career in Integrative and Functional Medicine. She is certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine and the Instituter for Functional Medicine, and has completed additional training through the American Board of Bariatric Medicine and the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine under the direction of Andrew Weil, MD. Dr. Nielsen lives in Petoskey, Michigan with her husband and twin sons.
